Jacksonville Outdoors

Moving to Florida helped me change my life. There is a ton of fitness centers here which made it easier for me to drag myself out of my bed and start working out. Although when I was beginning, I didn’t go to the gym daily, but I was able to maintain my physical activities each day. That is another good thing about Jax, it will keep you going one way or the other.

Jacksonville is beyond compare. It offered me great outdoor activities, and I’m pretty sure you will enjoy them as well so here are some of the outdoor activities in the city.

Surfing

Surfing is not as easy as how it looks. It’s worth taking some lessons to give you the basics and for you to successfully ride the waves.

Since surfing involves the ocean, you must be a good swimmer, and you should always be aware of the safety aspects of it. If you’re not sure where to surf, you should ask a local guide or a lifeguard.

When you get the hang of surfing, you surely will have fun and at the same time get the physical benefits such as cardiovascular fitness, shoulder and back strength and, leg and core strength.

Kayaking and Stand-Up Paddleboarding

If you prefer relaxing activities, you can opt for kayaking and paddleboarding. These are low impact activities which will improve your aerobic and cardiovascular fitness, flexibility and muscle strength in the back, shoulders, arms, chest, torso, and legs. Doing these activities can be associated with yoga for it can be meditative and exhilarating.

Biking, Running, Jogging and Walking

Running and walking have plenty of benefits to offer. Running would help you burn calories, lose weight and reduce the risk of having osteoporosis. It will strengthen your abdominal muscles, calf, quadriceps, hamstrings, hip flexors, and glutes.

Daily walking would lessen the risk of heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, and osteoporosis. It will also relieve high blood pressure and improve the levels of your blood sugar.

Jacksonville is known to have the Nation’s Largest City Park System, and this means there are plenty of spaces and trails for you to explore. If you’d ask, I like jogging along the beach, having the sea breeze and scenic view is just perfect for my early morning runs.
